Southwest Gas is composed of two business segments: natural gas operations (Southwest) and construction services. Southwest is engaged in the business of purchasing, distributing, and transporting natural gas for customers in Arizona, Nevada, and California. As of Dec 31 2011, Southwest purchased and distributed or transported natural gas to 1,859,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers in geographically diverse portions of Arizona, Nevada, and California. Co.'s subsidiary, NPL Construction Co. is an underground piping contractor that primarily provides utility companies with trenching and installation, replacement, and maintenance services for energy distribution systems.
