XLU, VSPY: Big ETF Outflows
updated Monday, December 8, 12:35 PMLooking at units outstanding versus one week prior within the universe of ETFs covered at ETF Channel, the biggest outflow was seen in the Utilities Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLU), where 4,600,000 units were destroyed, or a 3.1% decrease week over week. Among the largest underlying components of XLU, in morning trading today Duke Energy (DUK) is up about 1.2%, and Nextera Energy (NEE) is higher by about 1%.
And on a percentage change basis, the ETF with the biggest outflow was the S&P 500 Volatility Response Shares (VSPY), which lost 249,999 of its units, representing a 38.5% decline in outstanding units compared to the week prior. Among the largest underlying components of VSPY, in morning trading today The ADT Corporation (ADT) is off about 3.8%, and Aflac (AFL) is higher by about 0.7%.
